Android Player Ver. 8.24.0.28408 speed playback at 2x if automatic convert is triggered

More important, you’ll need a filemanager on shield, download and install from play store x-plore, is free → X-plore File Manager - App su Google Play
Open it at least once before proceed
Then,
if is the first time that you install an app outside play store, you have to enable installation through unknown source
go to settings gear icon
device preferences
security & restrictions
click on Unknown sources
than tick x-plore
this grant x-plore permission to run and install plex .apk

you can also manage your usb from x-plore
it’s not userfriendly with is ui but is not complex

me too

2x speed after fast forwarding as well.

Hi, have you managed to downgrade? It works?
Have a nice day

Is anyone else having this problem on the FireTV?

Downgrade to 8.23.1
ITs only solution i found

It works for me.

sorry, what’s is working? and how?
you mean with previous version?

Yeah the previous version is working

issue is still persist on 8.26.0.28833 beta Plex: Stream Movies & Live TV 8.26.0.28833 beta
everytime audio from aac is transcoded to opus
the playback speed is busted and playback is ruined
it’s more than a month and i’m getting pissed off… no answer by a plex employee so far
with 8.23.1 everything works and all audio aac remain aac if transcoded

Same with me.

Anything being transcoded on the android app (on phone & Google TV) plays at double speed.

Forcing to play original quality fixes the issue.

Please fix this recently introduced bug.

Same with me.

+1. Was able to recreate the issue on my Galaxy S8, my friend’s Moto phone and a Mi Box S

Same thing on my Mi 9 Lite when transcoding selected. I’m very disappointed with that, since I’ve bought Flex Pass and I see there is no actual support from developers.

tried now lastest apk release 8.26.2 for arm64 https://downloads.plex.tv/Kepler/kepler-arm64v8a-googlePlay-stdExo-8.26.2.29389-fdca424e.apk
same issue. now i’m really really pissed off.

near two month

when i’ll be no longer able to use 8.23.1 version apk i’ll shutdown the whole server and going back to previous behaviour. copy and paste on the local device and play.

Test your damn app before release to public dammit!

Can we get devs to weigh in on this issue? This seems to be a problem across all Android-based clients and is a fundamental feature of Plex

Same here. All Android devices for me. Even Firestick. Not rolling back. I shouldn’t have to. It’s been a month and still broken… Fundamental feature. How do significant issues like this get past Q&A?

Same thing on a OnePlus8 Pro, this has been driving me nuts for months. Happening to my wife’s Pixelbook Go too and this fixed it

happy that this post has helped

Okay, good to know this isn’t an instance of “works on my machine”. Happening on my phone and my Shield TV.
