There is only one submitted report as far as I know. I would submit my logs but I’m using an older PMS from last year. and I already deleted my static collections. So the problem might not appear in the same way anymore.
It’s a different issue. This topic is a bit more serious. Movies in collections cannot be played at all with a message implying it’s a server problem. See the first post. Having all the films display in the library and not in their collections would be annoying if you have lots of movie in collections to make browsing more efficient, though.
Yes my issue is definitely more an annoyance than anything. Especially for franchises like Indiana Jones, where Raiders is filed further down the alphabet than the others. I’ll create a new topic.
Crossing my fingers that this issue gets sorted for you all.
EDIT - for anybody else with same problem as me - seems this was already logged by another user and is fixed in 2026.7.
Add me to the list of people this is affecting, and has been since the new experience app update. Just didn’t find out what was causing it until this thread. My mobile device is a T-Mobile variant Samsung S23 Ultra (SM-S918U), and it’s the only device that has this issue. I have 2 PCs, 2 Nvidia Shields, and 2 Google TVs that do not experience this issue.
EDIT (Update) - Holy crap, I actually fixed it! I had previously set my database cache size (Library settings) to 8GB to test and never noticed any issues so left it there. I just set it back to the default 40MB, and now every single movie in a static collection loads on my phone! If you have to change this back to default, don’t forget to reboot the server in order for it to take effect.
Thanks, mine is also set to 8GB, gonna try this. If it works, we’re gonna have to name a park after you.
I’ll do a before-and-after to see if it’s still showing the symptoms first, which means I have to create some static collections. Then I’ll change the cache size and restart to see if it’s fixed.
Holy ■■■■, it works. The titles that are in a static collection still take 1-3 seconds to load compared to titles in a dynamic/smart collection. But at least they load. I tested loading them before making the change to see if they would load at all and they would not.
Setting the database cache size to the default 40MB is now the de facto fix for those experiencing this issue.
Will looking into this bug address the pre-play screen not loading on android/iPhone if a movie exists within a collection? I hope so it will address this.
Can confirm. I just got 2026.8.0 beta on my phone. It’s fixed.
There are elements on the page that still take a few seconds to load, but it’s navigable and the page loads instantly including the Season selection, so the user can start watching immediately. The Cast & Crew, other collections, and “more with…” rows still takes awhile to load, but they load eventually.
From what I observed before 2026.8.0, these elements that now load instantly also loaded before 2026.8.0, but before, there was like a blank shroud covering the whole UI and I’m guessing that it’s waiting for all elements in the page to load before it removes the shroud. The purpose I assume is so that when it displays the UI to the user everything is already done loading. Now in 2026.8.0, it feels like that blank cover was removed altogether.
Thanks for fixing it! I’m gonna wait until this comes out of beta before reverting my library to static collections and re-enabling automatic collections.
So far yes, the content now loads EXCEPT, the buttons to Watch don’t show up. I’m only offered to add the show to watchlist which- I don’t even use or have Discover features enabled. This issue still stems from loading content from a collection that is either picked from the recommended tab that is from a collection, or picking something from a collection itself.
You have to wait for it to load. The Add to watchlist button changes to Watch after the whole page is done loading. It’s not perfect and not as fast as movies/shows not in a static collection, but this is a huge improvement, and after a year of dealing with this problem, I’m happy with this fix.
Besides, the user can just click on Seasons and go directly to the episodes page to play something if they don’t see the Watch button because the page is taking a while to load. Minor inconvenience.
‘Fixed’ for me in 2026.8; caveat that load times of static collection items are a order of magnitude higher than other items, and still much slower than before (pre-New Experience).
We should really move discussion regarding “slow loading” into another thread, or the thread I mentioned. Because this thread about “movies not loading in Android” is now fixed.
