Android TV beta: next episode starts immediately while countdown still counting down

Didn’t see this posted anywhere else. When watching a series in the Android TV beta client the next episode screen comes up like usual with the countdown but behind the screen the next episode starts automatically while the countdown is still going.

This is happening in the current production release as well, so I don’t believe this to be limited to beta.

Some additional “fun” behavior I’ve observed since I’ve been using the Shield Pro as a client:

  1. The next episode sometimes starts playing in the previous episode’s place in the little window thing (not sure of the technical term, lol). If you hit select to play the next episode it actually skips the next episode and goes to the one after it. If you do nothing, it continues playing in the tiny window thing.
  2. The next episode and countdown sometimes never appears, so you have to go down to manually select it.
  3. The next episode and countdown sometimes never appears, so you have to go down to manually select it…except that it is showing the exact same episode that just played or perhaps an older one since it hasn’t marked one or more as watched.
  4. And sometimes it works just fine. :person_shrugging:

The auto play and mark watched has been broken for well over a year at this point in the Android client. The only reason I’ve stuck with it thus far is because of the ability to pass through audio and match frame rate. I’m beginning to wonder if having these settings enabled is what’s causing problems.

These are my thoughts exactly. I’m assuming it has something to do with the frame rate matching specifically but l haven’t personally bothered to try it.
