Android TV fails to play MPEGTS reliably since version 9.16

Ever since Plex for Android version 9.16 I am unable to play back MPEGTS videos reliably on the Nvidia shield. Videos recorded by NextPVR or TVheadend fails to resume playback. Videos play from the beginning but then fails to resume playback. The error message states there was an error while attempting to play this video.

The same videos play fine on Apple TV and ios devices so the issue must be the Android app. Reverting to version 9.15 resolves the issue.

Replying here as well. I too have been getting this issue for a long while.
