Android tv issue

How can I fix “an error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again “

I am also having this error on Google Chromecast with Google TV. I can not watch any video anymore and I can not stream live tv. Odd enough, I can play music fine. Videos was working fine up until last night, so Plex must have broken the app via an update or something. All other clients (web client, webOS, Android) are fine.

This is not acceptable to jam out an update that completely breaks the client. I want to watch a movie tonight, so please get this fixed pronto, Plex.

There is a problem with Android devices. However, it is not affecting all devices and is hard to replicate.

If possible, please supply some additional details:

Plex Android app version and device. Available via Authorized Devices
App setting for Allow Insecure Connections (Never / on same network / Always)

Plex Media Server version
What settings do you have in Settings → Network for the following:

  • Secure Connections (required / preferred / disabled)
  • Strict TLS Configuration (checked / not checked)

Plex Media Server log files would also help. Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Logs.
Please attach the entire zip file to the thread.

I found the issue - at least for me. Plex must have f’d up the HDMI pass-through on their last update (solid job testing). I messed around with settings for hours — Google TV settings: Display & Sound - Advanced – If I check all 4 settings (including the 2 that is says are unsupported (atmos and aac) ) . then bam – all good. Specifically I found it has something to do with AAC. Although it says unsupported for me, checking it fixes the problem.

Plex please fix this… you f’d up the audio pass-through and Google TV users have no way to revert your bugs.

I’m having the same issues (as probably everyone does). Do you know which (old) version is working because both settings did not fix it for me.

Kind regards

update: I uploaded a server log and hope this helps to solve the issue.
