and ref frames is an odd number the movie glitches loosing the frame in direct stream, while if I force convertion the reproduction goes smoothly.

So Now I’ve tested aroud 500 streams and every time i get an Odd number in Ref Frames, the stream stutter.

Mi Server is running on a PR4100 Western digital.
Server Version 1.11.0.4666
Android Tv app version 6.12.0.3239

Thanks if you coul fix it.

Nobody in here?

That is odd and not something I’ve seen. Have you checked if you see the same issue in other Plex clients?

You say you see the glitch when “in direct stream”. Do you really mean direct stream (i.e. audio and video are being copied into another container) or direct play (the file is played as is, the display on the screen will say “direct play”).

Hi, thanks for the reply the player say “direct Play”. If I force convertion the frame drop goes away. The client on my Android Samsung Note 8 goes smoothly, and olso the web player and the client on the windows store.

6.13.6 should have fixed this issue.

Unfortunately not yet, just tested and still glitchy.

Can you create a short sample of that file? Test it to see if you see the same problem, then send me a link to that file. I’m not able to recreate the problem with the files I have.

Edit - Also, what type of TV is it?

Yes of course I`ll do it this evening.

Done both files are glithcing drive.google.com/open?id=0BywXZlTBy_rzVURyMGlET0tyTTg
the TV is a Sony BRAVIA KD55A1 OLED 2017

Same problem here. Sony Android TV 2017. First noticed on 1080p files, ever so slightly stuttering video although audio perfectly in sync and not dropping out, just looked like the odd frame going missing. 720p and below fine… until today. Just playing back 576p files and very noticeable frame drop. Same as 1080p, audio all fine and smooth, just a judder every few seconds. Tested on a file I played back perfectly just a week or so ago, and that now has dropped frames. Checked Plex player version and it is the latest android release.

Can also confirm that if I go to settings on the specific video and select the first transcoding option for that specific file, problem goes away completely. Issue only seems to appear to direct play of file

Happy to supply a sample of file or a recording of the issue occurring on screen

Just done a quick test and installed Kodi on my TV, then the Plex plugin and tried the same file, all plays perfectly, without transcoding. Just wanted to check it wasn’t the TV, and it certainly seems as though it is the Android Plex app instead.

Hi how is going do you need more stuff?

Up no solution? I just updated to MyCloudPR4100_plexmediaserver_11224929-29f6d1796 but the frames are always dropping.

Hey sorry. Lost track of this thread. Can you check the app settings and see if you have the automatic adjust frame rate setting enabled? Try turning it off, or turn it on if it is off, just to see if there is a difference.

Are you samples still available?

Edit - I didn’t mean frame rate. I meant refresh rate.

On my side, the difference is negligible. Had to downgrade to 6.12 in order to play SD files properly, with a slight frame drop on some HD. Anything from 6.13 up has a really horrible frame drop every 2-3 seconds, but only video. XPlay unofficial app doesn’t seem to have this problem on the same tv.

6.13 supports changing the refresh rate of the TV, which 6.12 didn’t. This can cause dropped frames if the wrong rate is used, which is why I suggested turning this off if you have it enabled. Did you check this setting?

6.12 has the refresh rate setting too. Tried on and off with the same problem on 6.12 which has very slight hd frame rate dropping, and 6.15 which plays hd better but has massive SD problems for me. 6.15 refresh setting made no difference to this issue

Can you generate a short sample for me? I’d like to see if there is something with the file.

No problem:

Just to note, this file plays back perfectly on Plex iOS, Plex Media Player, Plex for Kodi and XPlay… only issue is Plex Android
