Android TV, Plex app does not scale videos to 4k (or at all)

Server Version#: 4.73.2
Player Version#:8.28.0.30077
TV: Hisense U7G

Plex displays videos 1:1 rather than wide. In other words, the picture ends up smaller that the screen. (640x480 is tiny!)
However when the same video is viewed through a DLNA client instead of Plex it is fine.
TV is locked on “Wide” while watching these videos…
Plex on my phone works fine. It is just on the TV.
All apps except for Plex work as expected on the Hisense.
When using Plex on a Roku through the HDMI everything is normal.
This seems to isolate the problem the the Android Plex app? Any ideas? Anybody?
Thanks!

While playing the video, select the playback settings by click the three vertical dots at the bottom-right after pressing down on the remote. In the playback settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and set Display Mode to anything other than original (Stretch works well in most cases). “Original” means something different in Plex than it does in most players (original resolution vs. original aspect ratio).

Wow! That was a great answer! It worked AND it seems to carry over for other videos and other resolutions.
Could they have hidden it any better?
Again, thanks a lot.

I’ll add that “Letterbox” is the standard display option.

“Zoom” is typically used for videos that aren’t cropped, and “Stretch” is typically used for videos that have an incorrect aspect ratio, or people who are allergic to black bars and don’t mind a distorted image.

You’re welcome, glad it worked.

Yeah, I meant to mention that it’s a sticky setting and persists to other videos.
