An idea for absolute numbering naming scheme
Really no idea if this is the right place, or if this has been done or anything but I have an idea of how we don't have to name anime by the season and episode number and instead can leave it numbered in the correct number (example Detective Conan Ep 600.mkv). It would save time having to name them all using a batch renamed or whatever, but also is much easier to keep track of them when browsing the files manually on a ps3 or other media server for example. The idea is to have these files placed into the season folders respectively which would then let plea scan the file names. It would then use the file name episode number to cross check against the amount of episodes listed in TVDB, then for the season number it would count how many episodes where before it. Example: theres 4 seasons, each have 25 eps each. That makes a total of 100 episodes. So plea scans episode 90 it will say, "ok theres 25 eps in season 1, 25 eps in season 2, 25 in 3 and 25 in 4, so this is number 90 so it must be in the 4th half of the seasons, in that case the episode number is 90 - season 1 total = season 2 total - season 3 total which equals 15. Thats correct as it would then display in plea Season 4, episode 15. I think this is a nice method, if it exist then awesome I didn't know about it. But I've just spent a few days naming my anime ( i have over 300 series lots of larger ones too.) and thought this would be a nice touch if anyone wanted to make it.
Alternatively it could also display them inside plea as their actually numbers, rather than the season numbers but still take the metadata for them using the same method for grabbing the data as described above, but displaying the actual episode number. Not sure how much control plea gives to it meta agents so not sure if that would work.
Well feel free to make this, delete the thread, move it or whatever is necessary, also take note that this isn't a request, its an idea for someone who can make meta agents to pursue if they would like too.
