Anime on plex?

Hi guys, I added some anime to my plex server.
Sadly I was disappointed because it found only 2 out 7 anime :frowning:
So I searched and apparently I need to install this two things:

Now I have two question:

  1. since I’m new of Plex, there really not an easier way to install them?
  2. There’s hope that plex will natively support anime soon?
  3. Since I’m not english, but italian, how those plugin works? They can find the anime if it has the italian title?

Before diving into 3rd party plugins, you should try first to use the inbuilt agents.

The trick with Anime is this: TV Show metadata are delivered from TheTVDB. If you add Anime, make sure it is listed on TheTVDB.
This can be tricky: You should absolutely research how the Anime is titled internationally. Oftentimes, metadata for an Anime are only availabel in english, so you must research the englisch title of the Anime and use this.
If you search on TheTVBD whether an Anime is listed, make use of the Advanced search.
Search with the default english and a second time with your library language.
Do also look at Wikipedia to determine the international title of the Anime.

So far, I have found every Anime I added into my Plex with this method.

Also, for example, I have this anime:
http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=series&id=74599&lid=7
but Plex doesn’t recognize it even if the name is the same :frowning: Plex seems to find them, but then it can’t choose an posters,banner and background :frowning:
An other example: for an anime it found everything, even with the italian name, apart poster and banner. The strange thing is that it found the background!

This is currently a bug which is expected to be solved in the next release of the Server.

TVDB is HORRIBLE for anime!!! You will have to organize your files in insane ways that make no sense and are hard to use in Plex. You’ll have a terrible time knowing what is what. This is why it’s so important that other websites be supported.

Version 1.1.0 is already out for Plex Pass.
I don’t know when it is going to be released publicly.
