I'm really liking Plex, is much easier than XBMC plus the fact that I can stream from outside my Network. Anyway, coming from XBMC, the AniDB scraper is pretty good. I mean it has covers and backgrounds when you're inside the Anime, plus info and such. I know for some dumb reason you can get banned from trying to update SO much content, and I think I got banned (the daily ban thing). So from that no covers really happened at all... so for now I switched back to ThetvDB, since their cover work is instant and such.
What exactly is different from this scraper vs the XBMC scraper? Because for some reason it is. Even though the forum thread is 3 years old now, but I read when AniDB finally came to Plex or whatever someone stated that there are no covers (because AniDB doesn't supply them, etc.), well today, 3 years later, does that still apply? From what I remember on XBMC, doesn't their cover work come from something completely else (that isn't AniDB, some other addon)?
Until I guess I get unbanned or whatever, could someone do a screenshot of all their AniDB scraper in Plex if you could, so I could see how it looks.
If the above is true, do you have to get your artwork and backgrounds elsewhere? Or does Plex have their own kind of addon that you can choose art work from (if AniDB still doesn't do artwork, that thread was 3 years ago after all)? Because I know ThetvDB has all sorts of covers and backgrounds you can pick.
Oh, plus, where is this log-in I keep hearing all over the Plex forums of AniDB? I have an account on the website, but I don't know where to log into in Plex? How do I do it?
After poking around with plex for so long. I recommend using HAMA for the agent. I have managed to trick plex into listing movies in with the tv series by adding an episode number. Example is Nerawareta Gakuen is a movie but I threw in 01 in the file name to register as an episode being in it's own folder and anidb already have it setup as episode 1 being complete movie.
@kvaj: thanks for liking HAMA. i coded local search so it only pulls the xml once and it's cached for 2 weeks, and i recommend not pulling the crappy anidb poster. you shouldn't get banned with HAMA, or if you are you will be most than half done most likelly...
I used to use AniDB for metadata (it does have covers), but after setting up a new server I didn't bother.
I have Anime movies setup as a standard Movie folder, and Anime shows setup as a standard Television folder.
For shows, I just make sure all my anime is organized and named according to the TVDB (http://thetvdb.com/).
Thanks for the link! I'm trying to get my Anime to pull in the correct metadata from TVDB, but am struggling with a couple. One in particular is "Monster." It is ABSOLUTELY SURE that I actually have Monster High. I have the folder named Monster, and went through to each episode and named them like so: "1 - Herr Doctor Tenma."
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, at all. Could you please help me get this figured out?
