Annoying Behavior With “Add To Queue” - Desktop Player

Server Version#:Version 1.18.7.2434 Synology
Player Version#:1.6.5 Mac

Fault is identical to this one but still happening in desktop player. Very annoying when listening to music and trying to work. Largely defeats use of “Playback Queue” :frowning:

Trying to set up a music queue in Plex and I’ve noticed a rather annoying and inconsistent behavior with the “Add to queue” function. I’ve observed this quite a bit and managed to pin down how to consistently reproduce it.

Steps to reproduce :

  1. With an empty play queue, select first batch of tracks from one album
  2. Press Play button. Tracks added to queue. First selected track starts playing.
  3. Select next batch of tracks from another album
  4. Select “Add to Queue” from … menu in toolbar before first track has finished playing.
  5. Open the play queue.

Observed result :

The second batch of tracks are added to position #2 in the playlist below the track currently playing. If any additional batches of tracks are added while the first track is still playing, those batches are also added to position #2, pushing down the second batch of songs.

If the first track completes before adding another batch, the tracks are added to the end of the queue.

Expected result :

The tracks should always be added to the end of the queue when using the “Add to queue” menu option.

Thanks for your time in fixing this.

Thank you to user https://forums.plex.tv/u/brandishwar for the clear writeup of the original fault.

Is there a bug tracker that we can follow? I am getting this exact same behavior with server 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead, whether I use the web client or the latest Android client.

FOUR months since this bug was reported and it still persists on Server Version 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896 / Windows Desktop Player Version 1.16.0.1364-da192ff7.

The feature of adding tracks or albums to a current playlist is a BASIC feature. I’m starting to regret to paid for a service in which a BASIC feature just doesn’t work and it is just not solved for months…

C’mon… this feature works fine on WinAmp since 0.9 beta (from 1997). We’re on 2020!
