Another Offline Playback question

I have had some connection issues and found out that I can not use plex on my TV.

The local server is manually added.
Plex server is configured to not request authentication for the local subnet.

When I open the app it gets stuck at the logo and that’s it. There is nothing more for me to do but just stare at it.

Is there anyway to make this work? If this has been asked and answered before, I’m sorry, please point me to the topic which I could not find.

You need to enter your local IP and subnet in the server and on the client you need to change the connection to preferred secure. Do a search and you should find the direction.

I already have that setup, and still hangs at the logo…

My android TV, Shield, and Fire TV’s work without Internet. It does take a couple of minutes when you first launch Plex for it to load. I am assuming it is trying to connect over the Internet and it has to time out before it loads.

This might help too:

thanks, I’ll give it a look over.

I left it for 30 minutes and nth. A friend has apple tv and plex opens instantly without internet. I guess it also depends on the player?

Hi @LittleBro, yeah unfortunately as per the link @Alucard1 sent it does state that most “Smart TV” Apps will require an internet connection, see reference image with details below:

Yeah, I saw that. I guess I need to rely on other DLNA servers like Servio or Synology VideoStation
