I am not able to create or view Photo Albums with my Photo library in Plex. According to this support document when I view my Photo Library in Plex Web or Plex for Windows Desktop I should see an Albums view option. Additionally, according to the doc, if I select a photo in the library one of the options I should have in the context menu is “Add to Album.” I do not have that option. My Photo Library does have a Playlists view and an “Add to Playlist” contextual option for selected Photos, but I want to use Albums for my Photos.
I’m on Plex Server 1.21.2.3943 running on Windows. I am a Plex Pass subscriber, but I created this library before I was - I don’t know if Albums are a plex pass feature.
Is this a bug? Is there a way for me to fix it?
Here are a couple of pics showing the lack of Albums features in my Photo library. Also, notice the lack of Favorites as a view in Photos.
Some time back Plex renamed Playlists to Albums, but only in Photo libraries. That was confusing, since they were still “Playlists” everywhere else, so they changed it back. Apparently some of the documentation has not been updated.
There are also ‘Album’ items in the View and Sort menus. The Album View is actually the same as Folder View in other libraries, and the Album Sort doesn’t seem to mean anything anymore.
Thanks for the answer! A minor bummer I guess - even though it’s the same data structure under the hood the word “playlist” for photos feels wrong. Sort of like if my computer started calling folders sandwiches. Thanks though, this has been driving me nuts and it was fine all along.
Yeah, I get that. It was originally “Playlist,” and photo playlists were included on the Playlists page. When they renamed it to “Albums,” they no longer appeared on the Playlists page, which, for me, was worse.
