Any advice on how to debug playback failures?

Server Version#: Version 1.15.4.994
Player Version#: Web Client—General, Version 3.95.2 (Chrome)

I am having problems playing many of my movies on any platform. I am getting this error often, this one from Chrome:

Playback error

An error occurred trying to play “details?key=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F66036”.
Error code: s1001 (Network)

details?key=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F66036

I haven’t changed anything that I know of, but Plex does update itself every so often.

The server log from a test run is below, with debugging on.

The remote access setting says it’s working (Green check). My network is running fine. I’ve re-scanned the library. I’ve also restarted Plex and rebooted the computer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Disable the playback of movie trailers as a test.
Settings - Web Client - Player - ‘Cinema Trailers to Play Before Movies’ = 0

I didn’t have that setting on, but that led me to the apparent problem. I had a custom preroll video that would play before any movie. Now that I think of it, I have not seen that preroll video since this started happening a month or so ago. So I removed that custom preroll and the problem has gone away so far (it was intermittent but frequent, so I feel like I’d know if the problem was still happening). I’ll keep an eye as I play more movies and report back if the problem continues, but for now I think it’s resolved. Thanks for the help!
