Playback error

This happens on all playback devices. Identical error. Doesn’t matter what movie or library. It’s exactly the same error.

Just used switch users and it worked with another user in the house. Appears to be just the admin account that can’t watch movies. Anyone know how to resolve this?

I’ll have to try that. There are a few other threads going too.

I rolled back to the public version and everything is running well again!

This seems to have to do with the pre-roll. If i skip the pre roll by pressing Forward before it can load, the movie will launch.

But yes, the non beta works fine.

yep just tested. newest beta doesnt work with pre roll. remove it and trailers/movies will work fine.

I suspect it was created with the stupidity of Rick roll for April first. The internal quality control at Plex is a disaster at best. Why these things aren’t tested is beyond me. What’s worse is the total lack of support. By the time they see something in the forums paying customers have gone days, weeks, months and years in some cases for the simple issues to be resolved.

I just broke my install and don’t remember how to roll back to prior version in unraid. Could someone please share the steps. Sucks cause I just had it working the other night.

yea, you uninstall via the normal channel (add/remove programs) then navigate to C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates\pickyourversion\packages and install.

Ive rolled back to 1.15.2.793 and wont touch the 1.15.3’s until someone makes it clear it doesnt break things again :stuck_out_tongue:

That only works on windows. I solved the issue by removing the preroll url. Everything else is fine.

ah - didnt know you were non windows, missed that sorry.

yea thats another option. Not using a pre-roll for now. Sucks but is what it is. Wish a plex employee would post here so we would know its known at least.

They have in another thread. Its known.

excellent. thanks

few updates, few weeks later - still not working eh?

Remove your preroll and you’ll be fine.

i have, but i figured they would have fixed said feature by now as its a feature i like to use.

Buuuuuuuuuuut this is all largely irrelevant as it seems they switched up the way the file is found, and simply didnt tell anyone. Much less post in any of these threads.

our $ doesnt pay for support i guess. Even on the forum level ;p

salt aside - people had a hard time w/ preroll initially as it needed the url from the web client and it was assumed it needed the actual path.

now they changed it to work like people assumed it did in the past. So you can use pre-roll, you just have to put in the path to the video as opposed to the url from the browser in laymans terms.
