Any CableCard Tuners still being made that work with Plex?

Subject says it all. I’m using Xfinity in the Seattle area… and I’m just wondering if CableCARDs are still available in the area and if anyone still makes a tuner that will work with Plex? SiliconDust has said they’ve left the market because the FCC pulled the requirement to provide CableCards… :-/

Thanks in advance.

Here in Pennsylvania, the Cable Cards called M-Cards are free to add to the account. They used to charge rent but because of streaming services competition, they changed them to Free!

Stop into the Xfinity Store and ask. You might need a manager the regular clerks would have no clue.

Also ask on Xfinity Forum if they have a copy once turned on. It’s like encryption and I wouldn’t bother.

Xfinity Corp has a sub-division to marry the Card to the Device Mac numbers and ID.

SD can make more but not enough market demand for them. They had a 6 tuner already to be built! but PULLED it.

So used is the only way SiliconDust HD HomeRun PRIME Cable CARD TV Tuner HDHR3-CC w. Power Supply | eBay

Thanks… I’ve read that basically “it depends”. For regular TV programming there isn’t restrictions but for premium channels it’s “record once” and VOD is locked completely. At least from what people have said based on their experience.

It’s a shame that Cable Co’s have this monopoly. No wonder so many people try to pirate streams over IPTV etc…

I am also in Seattle and am using a cable card with plex, however I am running a HDHomerun Prime. It works great if you can find one. I have looked into other cable card boxes but have yet to find one…they are all disappearing thanks to the FCC.

I use a ceton tuner I had back in the media center days. I have the card in my nas server and use a Windows VM for the driver’s and ceton proxy to make the card work with plex. I have Xfinity and it has been working great for about 3 years now.

Only cable box is Samsung I have 3 working but NO Channel Guide Samsung has not updated it …in like forever! If you don’t want PLEX just a box https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GX-SM530CF-Streaming-Player-Built/dp/B00EYO241Q

I have one HBO channel type and I can view it on Windows 11 but to record it you need Windows 7 and only WMC can play the encrypted channel back from a recording.
