Any good youtube videos on how the playback/menu looks when folders are organized?

Hello,

I’m currently using my Oppo to play back all my movies and it plays them flawlessly but the menu isn’t great.

I have all my files organized exactly the way I want them - e.g.
Movies with subfolders for action, mystery, supernatural, scifi…
TV shows Current - Game of thrones with subfolders for each of the seasons, Gotham with subfolders for seasons
TV shows Past - Banshee - with sbufolders for each seasons.

I have many thousands of movies and TV show episodes (50TB) so they have to be very well organized.

I’m curious how the choosing of folders and subfolders and the like would be on a plex device. I couldn’t find a youtube video where anyone focused on that aspect.

Thanks

That’s pretty much exactly how I have mine setup and it works great. Some people on here will try and tell you it will cause issues or it doesn’t follow protocol, but it works flawlessly.

TV shows are more picky than Movies as far as folder structure goes. Don’t let anyone discourage you from using genre folders to breakup the movies into smaller groups as it works just fine.

I have about 6 or 7 Plex servers, Emby, Serviio, and 10, 500+ movies that proves it works just fine.

HOLY CRAP - 10,500 Movies! I thought I had a big collection but it is DWARFED by your system.

Any place with screen shots of what it looks like in plex for that same level as your windows explorer screen shot or a similar system?

It would be easy if I could copy and paste screenshots from the clipboard. Confluence and Jira by Atlassian have this feature and it is super convenient not having to save them first.

Thanks so much for the photos! I notice none of these are in any sort of order. Is there a way to show the contents of a folder in alphabetical order from the plex device (not server)?

Whoops - I missed one of the photos - I see it is sorted alphabetically.

You mostly just show them all together. You can literally view them by folder as well, but the interface for that isn’t as good, but yes there are tons of filters and sorting options.

Thanks!

I’m thinking viewing the 10,500 movies you have in one place would mean a LOT of scrolling.

Of course, most of them are garbage and will probably never be watched, but it’s just a hobby for me as more of a collection and to have something to watch that I am not seriously watching to make fun of them. I mean most of the family watches Netflix/Hulu/Amazon, etc. I am here to test and stress what Plex can handle! I will probably work on some API services for the data soon. There isn’t one place to get data for all types of media and most places are not complete or have silly rules as to why they don’t include a particular TV show or whatever.

I normally just either find what I want to watch prior or only scroll through the recently added or recently released. You definitely can’t sit there and scroll them all on the TV. : )

It’s best to know what you are looking for or at least something to filter by, but it really depends on the app you are using. If I am on the computer using the Windows or web interface you can scroll and move around quickly. If you are on one of the TV or Roku type players, then you really need to know what you are looking for as those are not very quick at all.
