Any News on 0.6.1 release

My experience with those nano-sized wifi devices has been less than stellar.  I'd buy this instead.

And another question, will the next update of Rasplex take into account the new official Raspberry wifi dongle (here)?

As there is no info about chipset its difficult to say, stick with the Edimax EW-7811Un, it works, however, using WiFi can cause stuttering on playing anything but SD media, check out this sub forum, better to direct cable for optimum performance.

Very nice update! I'm so impressed what a RPI 2 can do nowerdays.

I think a can finally sell my Mac mini (2011) and Drobo FS and move over to a NAS (Asustor AS5104T).

And finally use DTS-HD MA / Dolby TrueHD in PHT

Only TrueHD has been mentioned, I don't know if we will ever get DTS-HD  :(

The TrueHD is decoded by the RPi2 and output as PCM, it does not bitstream it to a receiver.  DTS-* should always play since it will drop down to DTS Core, but not bitstream HD/MA/HRA to the receiver either.

Support for TrueHD is really nice, but DTS-HD MA support would make it perfect. I'm still considering buying a NUC just for that.

Hi,

I have seen that Kodi now can decode both TrueHD and DTS-HD into MPCM and send that to the amplifier. I have tried their latest beta and it really works like a charm. I guess not only the TrueHD part will come into Rasplex but also the DTS HD in a coming release (RPi2 only due to hardware limit) or?  In addition Kodi can now play MVC 3D streams packed into a MKV container out of the box. Is this in the line for future release as well?

At the moment i have switched to use Kodi for playing movies but the rest of the family is still using Plex in different forms due to simplicity.

Cheers Adeban

If my Pi2 can handle full rate 1:1 Blu-ray rips with DTS-HD and TrueHD I will be one very happy camper!

Limited HiFiBerry support (music only)

:S - just ordered a digi+ for movie playback... hope it will get full support eventually!

Great work, would have like the 0.6.1 intended d release with hifiberry support but happy to wait for 7 I guess… Please be soon though, currently running volumio on a pi buried in the ceiling in my kitchen. Volumio has awful but interface so can’t wait to use plex premium music and fire it up to the pi from android,

Now that the forums are back up… wondered if there’s any update?

A new RasPlex release candidate is currently undergoing (hopefully) final beta testing.
So if all goes well it shouldn’t be much longer before public release of RasPlex 0.7.0
That said, we still can’t say for sure when that release will be made…

Best regards: dlanor

Thanks Dlanor, still trying to get used to the new forum, never did like change, but love new relaeases - holding out for rasplex 7.0

Wow, I hadn’t looked into current RasPlex development since before the forum crash, as I’ve had almost no more problems with 0.6.0, but now that I’ve seen that impressive 0.7.0 changelog… I had no idea how bad I wanted all of that. Thanks dlanor, NedtheNerd and everyone else involved, this is insanely great!

Dlanor,
Will we be able to use the update feature within Rasplex 0.6.0 on this new 0.7.0 release? I wanted to know if I should prepare to re-apply all my preferences and LIRC xml files.

Yes the update feature will be used, set your Update Channel to PreRelease in Preferences and you will receive a notification when its released.

And to be very un-Plex Inc like, here’s what’s coming:

changes:
Limited HiFiBerry support (music only)

May I ask what does it mean ? Is it a limitation in the GUI in Rasplex 0.7.0 ? I mean if i use the CLI, I’ll be able to setup my favourite audio output as in this guide https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/configuring-the-sound-card-in-openelec-with-device-tree-overlays/ ?

You will not be able to set up your HiFiBerry following that guide, that is for OpenELEC.

Rasplex only uses OpenELEC as its base OS, and it uses modified Plex HT as the client, which is still based mostly on Kodi Frodo code. In an attempt to get the HiFiBerry supported a fair amount of Kodi Helix code was shoe horned in, but only as far as playing music audio files only for this release and for that, the music player had to be changed. This is bleeding edge and none of this code is currently in any other version of Plex HT (apart from Rasplex). It has been thoroughly tested and works great for music playback. If we had tried to also get the HiFiBerry working for audio for video it would have delayed even further the 0.7.0 release. Rest assured, it is intended to provide this functionality in a future release.

Also looking forward to the .7 release!
