This is making my shield TV unusable til the episiod guide is updated. Sometimes I have to restart shield because Plex server disappears when it comes back on it starts doing an episode guide update which takes hours to complete even with setting at min and background scedual set for 3am. So the shield is so overpowered by this nothing works right and becomes slow til the episode guide is done. We or indeed a way to stop the episode guide so we can watch shows at the time and not have to wait. This is extremely frustrating.
Did you update to the latest 1.8.1?
Have been running 1.8.1 beta on the Shield for the past week or so. So far, it’s been really good. However, I don’t remember having guide update issue though. But several issues that I had with 1.7. 4 are gone on this version.
If you did not update, I suggest that you update, 1.8.1 has been released today for the Shield.
A few weeks ago it would randomly start updating the guide. This would take a very long time. I have 85 channels. When it is doing this it won’t play any local media without crashing a d menu is slow motion. I haven’t seen it updating as much latly but today my server wasn’t showing like it does at least once a week so only way to get it back is to reboot. With the reboot Plex then downloads the episode guide with every reboot and no local shows will play without crashing til its done. I seen the update today and it is stuck at installing so I am going to reboot. I deleted the TV runner for now so I can watch local TV shows for now.
Do you have the 16GB version or the pro version? If you have the 16 GB, do you have enough space left?
i have the pro version and it set up to record to usb connected drive.
