Everything worked fine until that. Did a manual guide refresh and channel rescan (from Windows 10 PC), rebooted everything (shield, routers, tv, etc.) relentlessly… still no Channel Guide at all. PLEX sees my shows and the recordings scheduled, but no guide so I can’t schedule any new recordings or see what’s on.
Guide is visible from iPhone, Kindle, Windows PC - but NOT Shield, you know THE DEVICE I WANT TO USE…
I fear if I delete “DVR” in the settings (Live TV & DVR > Delete DVR) to try to re-establish a new setup, that my recorded shows on my external HD will no longer be readable. As that is what happened to me several frustrating times with FiOS DVR & Sling. I also see others were not successful after attempting new DVR setup anyway.
I also see this is a reoccurring theme of EPG guides not working on Shield after updates going back YEARS. I agree with some folks that suggest maybe test On A SHIELD before releasing mandatory update.
I am using ALL approved/recommended antenna, external HD, etc..
Exactly the same problem here in Australia. Program guide not available on Shield TV (Plex Server on QNAP NAS); however, can still see it with Plex web viewer on Windows 10 PC. Latest versions of everything with IceTV guide and HDHomeRun Connect Quatro tuner. Program guide worked fine on Shield TV with IceTV data before last Plex Server update.
Thanks for chiming in to bring more attention - but sadly I think I read those of you in AU are even more “up-the-creek” as I think I read they (presumably Plex) had to force you to pay for the guide from this point (possibly temporary?).
same here flex on QNAP i have flex pass as well after update the DVR is stuffed and won’t refresh the channels or guide, latest firmware on homer as well.
can we roll back to old ver? it still was recording a show but can’t see anything now.
UPDATE: I did a fresh installation of PLEX on my Sony Bravia smart TV and got the same result = NO EPG GUIDE. This appears then to be more than a Nvidia Shield issue. I can only hope then PLEX is aware and diligently working on a fix, thus no response from them.
My WORK AROUND (hopefully VERY temporary) is to use the PLEX app (EPG guide visible there) on my iPhone to program new show recordings, since I can see the “recordings” via the Nvidia Shield and Sony smart TV. I did an experiment and this does work for me.
HEY PLEX: I have the same feedback that I did for SLING. Please test updates ALSO on devices OTHER THAN JUST SMART PHONES PLEASE!
That’s great to hear SplooshPLEX. Thanks for the heads up!
Not sure why I couldn’t find that thread when I searched all day… sigh. Guess it’s because I was convinced it was a Nvidia Shield issue; and the thread is convinced it’s a Sony TV thing.
I hold out hope it’s the same issue and will be fixed sooner (next week) rather than never.
Thanks to MonkeyHaus for raising this issue. I have the same problem in Western Australia in the program guide works from Plex on my Synology NAS but is unavailable on Shield TV.
Hopefully a fix to this is imminent after having to pay monthly for an IceTV subscription.
I have this same issue and for me it’s neither a SonyTV issue nor a Nvidia Shield issue. I run Plex Media Server on a Synology (DSM6+) NAS. My primary client is my Nvidia shield. On server version 1.15.8.1198, I have guide/channel information. On this version, in my client, the button inside the LiveTV area says “Channels.” As soon as I updated the PMS (server), the button that used to say “Channels” now says “Guide” and I only see “No items to display.” This was the case for the following server versions: 1.16.0.1226, 1.16.1.1291, and 1.16.2.1297.
I was able to work-around this issue by uninstalling PMS on my Synology and re-installing the 1.15.8.1198 version.
This is a server issue, not a client issue.
EDIT: I am in the US so this has nothing to do with location for me. Also, I didn’t have a ton of DVR scheduled recordings or anything so simply deleting/re-adding the DVR wasn’t scary for me. I did notice the one program I had setup for recording got messed up so this might not be a viable work-around for those with lots of schedules.
UPDATE: The Guide HAS returned for me after a Plex Media Server update was found on Google Play Store on Nvidia Shield. I deleted and reset scheduled recordings to be sure shows now record.
GUIDE IS ALSO magically now on my SONY Bravia Smart TV. I did need to restart the app numerous times, presumably it was doing an update and got stuck.
This issue has made me realize that PLEX has no actual direct support or contact method that I could find. That seems insane. Perhaps some of my my dollars for lifetime pass will go toward a future where that changes…
Good luck & best wishes to everyone else - especially in Australia regarding PLEX EPG issues!
Are you using the Nvidia Shield as your PMS? If so, I don’t think that update will help me as my Shield is only my client. I will be stuck waiting for an update to the PMS for Synology.
I am - because I have an external HD attached. The Shield sees that as a place to put recordings so I chose that method. Good luck with Synology, hopefully sooner rather than later for you.
