Appreciate the status update. But was looking to see on the chance anyone on the forum was so lucky to get the beta but thank you.
Those who were selected received a private invitation. If they wish to speak up, of course, it’s their decision.
I personally can attest to that my involvement is in trying to break it. This is the one time I hope I fail in my tasks
I should add; In the future, I will be more cautious about when I take vacation and not allow myself to be so far away from the internet. I came back to find the Beta already going.
I kept Amazon’s structure the way they set it up, my pictures in Photos, tunes in Music and three folders in Videos named Home Videos, Movies and TV Shows and then created a Plex collection for each of those. But you can set it up any old way you want, it’s as flexible as the Plex server on a home system
i got a golden ticket but right now I don’t think your missing much. Ive been uploading my content for the past couple days and still have several days to go. It is very buggy right now (going down several times). hopefully in couple weeks when most bugs are out it will be awesome.

But…but… I want to help break it.
We don’t need help. We are perfectly capable of breaking it.
However I am sure that it will be a case of the more the merrier in the realm of the destroyers. It is easier to destroy than it is to build. History abounds with examples in support of that premise.
Unfortunately there is little visible or audible indication when things break, Explosions and flashes of light are so much more satisfying than just a silent failure message or often no message at all just a failure to do what was asked.
Sometimes Plex Cloud Drive reminds me of a dog I once had, big, warm, fuzzy, clumsy, cute and totally useless for anything real. Other times it reminds me of my current dog, well trained, reliable, useful, fun and full of surprises and mysteries.
Of course my slow upload makes it unlikely that I will be able to use Plex Cloud Drive in the long term but, in the short term, I am having fun testing using a tiny subset of my library.
Along with others I have successfully broken it several times and I hope to break it several more times.
It is a LONG way from ready for general use but, I think, the developers might want a little larger beta test pool sometime pretty soon.
It would be nice if all Plex Pass users could get to see the Plex Cloud restricted forum, just as read only…
I appreciate they don’t need comments from those not involved.
But for the rest of us It would nice if we could at least see what’s going on

Ponder that for a second? Not being able to ask questions there would only serve to get them asked here. I know, sometimes the rules suck. There are things I can’t read because I’m not an employee but would love to know.

But being in complete dark sucks even more .
Well the beta testers have not signed any NDA, if there is anything you’d like to know, ask Currently people are testing and bugs are being ironed out as we speak. Some features are not available yet but being worked on (offline sync for example) but overall things look promising and very much like the plex home server version, except it takes its content from online.
As stated before, there is no need to wait for an invite to upload content to Amazon cloud, any folder will do. Keeping the structure similar to your current setup seems like a good practice, you can always move things around later.
Tell me about it! There are things I think I’ve figured out BUT … and that’s where I get the ‘dumb looks are aways free’ look.
I’ll share this (think i’m ok). It’s got some issues but still sweet!. I would personally say it’s between ‘alpha test’ and ‘beta test’ based on past open betas Plex has held. I’m kinda glad even my involvement is limited. It’s not bullet proof and I think that’s where the team’s focus is now. I see the support and dev guys going 1/2 nuts at some things trying to stabilize it / sort it out. I’m not worried. I think there’s one ‘bigger’ issue holding a lot back and that (whispers ‘amazon’ haha). Once that settles, i expect we’ll see a lot more openness and participation in the beta. I really don’t see this as taking a long time. I do see a fairly defined, finite, list of milestones to accomplish first before going ‘all out’ to everyone to ‘beat the crap out of’
Nice to know you and I see it pretty much the same from our different perspectives.
You too I’m very grateful I got invited to test the cr** out of this and I’m sure it will be just awesome when it’s ready to be released to everyone. Can’t wait!

I’m mostly interested in technical details, which is something you probably don’t know much about .

Care to elaborate ?

I thinks it would be fun to browse the jira or whatever tracker they use .
As for functionality - it would be nice if they could work out some sort of deal with Amazon (maybe Hulu and Netflix too?) to make Plex kind of “one stop shop” for everything. Plex Cloud could be a “foot in the door” .

Ohhh, that’s something I would love to see. I can even sign an NDA for that .

Darn right! And I want to keep it that way - that is the beauty of Plex. Even my 80 year old Dad can work with it
Ohh, It’s not that I want them to make things more complicated or anything. I just want to take a look under the hood . See how everything is put together . User experience is entirely separate thing. I would love to fix a few things here, but that’s a conversation for at least a few litres of beer .

That won’t happen unless you’re an employee. I’ve already asked that question and been told “No, that’s internal only”. There are limits of what even a NDA covers. This is VERY close-hold to their chests. It IS a key component of the company so it does make sense.
