Anyone using synclounge.tv watch together here its a nice feature to watch with long distance friends.
I tried to but I couldn’t get it to work with an external player and I didn’t feel like watching it on a laptop with the sync player.
The idea seems good, but I can’t figure it out, particularly on a smart TV (Roku)
Anyone got a tutorial on how to use this to watch on a TV (Roku TV)? I’d love to have a movie night during this lock down but I also don’t want to watch on my laptop.
Got it to work on two Roku Ultra’s. Selecting the same Plex Media Server using Plex PASS. I suspect all that’s required is Users to be added to your account Settings->Users&Sharing area.
On the first Roku, start Plex, find the show you want for Watch Together in your own collection or in “On Plex-Movies & TV”.
If you don’t see “Watch Together” as an option in the ellipsis ‘…’ More area, exit Plex and perform a software update on your Roku. I had to do this on one box (I have 3).
From the media screen you wish to share select “… More” and select “Watch Together”.
You’ll be presented with a list of Users from your “Users & Sharing” section of your Plex Account (under Settings).
Use the remote arrow keys and OK button to find and √ (select/unselect) everyone you want to invite.
Now Select “Done” and each account will have the Show/Movie you selected show up on their “Home: WATCH TOGETHER” list.
====
On the Second (third …) unit, just select media from the “Home: WATCH TOGETHER” list and press “OK”
The show information will show up with a list of everyone invited down the right side of the screen.
At the bottom of the screen will be a message, “Show Will Start When Everyone Joins”
or if the show has already started, just a “Join” button.
The shows won’t be perfectly in sync unless you just started, or have done a Rewind or Fast Forward to a new index, then they’ll be so close you can’t tell. Otherwise after Pause/Start they can be almost 1 Second different. Remember I have mine sitting side by side with two TV’s and two Roku Ultra’s, so any lag will be visible. One TV is 4K, the other is 3D if you’re wondering why. The 4K doubles as a computer monitor.
That’s it for the basics of setting up a Watch Party for sharing on a private Plex Server.
The “WATCH TOGETHER” also shows “On Plex - Movies & TV” whose media is orchestrated by Plex. i.e. it isn’t in my private collection.
