User having issues with Watch Together on TV Apps (Roku/AppleTV)

Quick question regarding Watch Together.
2 of the users that I have libraries shared with expressed intrest in using Watch Together with my media between each other. They were able to directly add each other as friends through the Plex website.

Connection tests correctly from the web client (app.plex.tv). They are able to start a Watch Together session without issue.

On TV clients (both Roku and Apple TV) they are unable to see each other as friends to open a session with. The only available Watch Together client that shows is me as the server host.

Users have closed and restarted their apps and updated to the latest version on either Roku or Apple TV.
Is there anything else that needs to be done to enable this capability for them?

Thanks!

I don’t know for sure but I would think that’s not supported. They can use the watch together with each other if they are watching their media, but not yours.

You may have to initiate the watch together session and have both of them join in order to be connected

Maybe @tom80H can give you a definitive answer on that if he doesn’t mind

I thought that might be a possibility but it seems to work perfectly fine through the web client if they are both accessing from their desktop PC’s. They can initiate a session between each other without me involved. I went as far as logging in as one of them to verify this was the case.

Perhaps the TV clients use different permissions, etc for Watch Together? Very strange.

I suppose if you shared your media with 2 people who wanted to watch it together or independently, they should let them do that

If they can do it on some devices it makes sense they should be able to do it on any device

Maybe you found a bug

Can you ask them to restart the clients to verify if the issue persists?

Yes. I was troubleshooting with the user and both the Apple TV client and the Roku client was restarted and updated to most current version. User can still only see me as an available Watch Together target through both clients.

Have you verified they’re using the same Olex account across their different clients (the one you’ve linked as friend)?

Yes. I am showing as a friend with the 2 users and can watch together with either and they can initiate watch together sessions with me.

They are friends with each other and can watch together via the web client but not either streaming client.

I was just asking the last question because your friend having multiple accounts assigned to their different clients could explain why they can see you from one client but not the other…

I considered that as a possibility. Had them do a force log out on the Roku + Apple TV and connected to their account from scratch. Same behavior. Only seeing me as a Watch Together target.

Maybe I’ll try to log in from my location as them on my Shield to test further. This one is definitely a head scratcher.

Thanks for the input.
