Anyway to change resolution on raspberry pi 2?

Having a few issues with my raspberry pi 2 and my projector, it only seems to want to output at a measly 1280x800 for some reason? Anyway to adjust resolution, does’t seem to be a setting for it in the menu? It is a full HD 1920x1080 projector so that isn’t a problem.

Tested on a TV, works fine, will get a bit of getting use to but overall I like plex media player :slight_smile:

This happens because the RPI firmware itself chooses this as the “best” mode. We have a feature that switches to the “best” mode according to our own criteria (i.e. 1080p in your case), but it didn’t work too well. It crashed deep inside Qt, so it’s probably not too easy to fix. We disabled it before release.

You could try it, but it’s a bit messy. You’ll have to edit the plexmediaplayer.conf file. Look for the hdmi_poweron option. Read this carefully: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/207338798-Advanced-Configuration

Cheers vlang! That does the trick, no weird bugs or crashes to report yet in my 15 minutes of testing.

Can confirm I set this (“hdmi_poweron”: true) a couple of days ago (RPi), it’s been running 16 hours a day playing movies, TV’s shows and music, no problems at all, rock steady.

im having truoble with my setup… im missing some of the screen… like its too big for the tv screen… have tried the “hdmi_poweron” option with no luck… is there anyway to calibrate the screen??

Yes, edit the entries in your config.txt file (overscan settings), I’ve posted a number of times in this sub forum how to edit the config.txt file.

Regards

it can be changed in the config.txt file (/flash/config.txt)
i have somewhere at the button of the file this:
hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=39
Its 1360x768@60hz
after edit the file just reboot :wink:

for an other setting check this website:

edit:
or just play with the overscan settings…
