thanks. I just happened across this issue…and also happened to be reconfiguring my local DNS servers yesterday (one of which is on the same box as my plex server)…
EDIT:: I have resolved the issue, by changing the setting Secure Connections to disabled > Reboot plex and computer it is on > setting Secure Connections to Preferred > Reboot plex and the computer it is on.
So… they why is it not working? First image is via IP… second image is app.plex.tv
The topic is listed as solved and the status.plex.tv shows all green; but I still have some users having connecting issues and I can’t seem to connect myself to my own server through the android app. Sooooo, it’s not fixed yet, unless I’m missing something
Same issue. Able to access server on 127.0.0.1:… Can access using Plex app on Firesticks, iphone both local and external. Unable to access via browser, “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “xxxx” securely”. Secure connection are set to preferred. Server is on newest (1.23.4.4805). Have restarted multiple times without any changes. Have tried accessing via 2 different PC’s.
LetsEncrypt’s status shows all green now; Plex still shows all green. I still can’t connect to my server through the android app or the TV app, and some of my users are still showing they can’t connect. I feel like there’s still something wrong in the pipeline somewhere
On PC I normally connect to app.plex.tv but just now downloaded the windows Plex app https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app and was able to connect. On the same PC through the browser I can’t connect.
Having this exact same issue. Unable to connect via web browser. Am able to connect via my Fire TV Cube or by connecting directly via server IP.
Even tried disabling secure connection required on the server, and it made no difference. Still can’t connect via web with the app.plex.tv is unable to connect securely message.
Im assuming an ip changed with the recent downtime or something. I had previously used a vpn bypass to push plex around my vpn - in my case, going into the host file and removing the plex entries fixed the issue immediatly
Just updated to the latest version 1.23.5.4841 and it’s working now. Not sure if it’s due to update or something on Plex’s side. Didn’t make any other changes.
Having this exact same issue. I am unable to connect via app.plex.tv. I’m getting “Cannot connect securely” message. I can connect via my server IP and Plex is working fine on my Roku.
I’ve tried rebooting my NAS, rebooting my router, and disabling the Plex app on my NAS and then turning it back on. Nothing has worked.
I have upgraded to the latest version 1.23.5.4841 and I’m still having this issue.
As of 7-22 @ 10:55 I’m still getting this same error. Anyone else? Like the rest of you I’ve upgraded, changed settings and then changed them back, restarted, etc. My other devices are working fine but not the app.plex.tv methods via browser. Can connect locally too.
