App.plex.tv is unable to connect to "SHIELD Android TV" securely

I’m having trouble setting up my Nvidia Shield Pro’s Plex Server. When I try to log into my browser app.plex.tv and click on the server, I’m greeted with the message “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “SHIELD Android TV” securely”.

Does going to it via local IP work?

xx.xx.xx.xx:32400/web ( replacing the x’s with the shield local ip )

no, it does not. I am on the same network for both devices, just incase that matters as well.
