This issue is specific to the Apple app as far as I know. I could not find a tag for that. Live TV does not cast to a Google Chromecast but it does cast to Apple TV. This is for live tv that is streamed over an antenna setup. I use HDHomeRun devices connected to the router. Also, live tv that is streamed on the Apple app on the phone does not give the option to watch from start or live. It always starts from the beginning and there is no way to fast forward to live during a live broadcast. I just noticed this in NBC Sunday night football. I could not play on my phone from the app and resume from live. I can give more details if needed.
Why are we still having this issue? It’s like Plex don’t care about us users who use the live TV feature at all! Casting hasn’t worked well for the over 4 years I’ve used Plex!
Casting from iPhone turns the Chromecast to a Plex logo and just plays the TV channel on my phone, same experience on an android phone too.
Come on Plex, put some dev hours into this problem and get it sorted once and for all please!
I’m having this same issue. It would be nice to see a reply from an official Plex employee as to what’s going on with this feature?
Plex doesn’t seem to care at all. Ive been complaining about this ever since their abominable redesign. Roku devices work fine, but if I start a recording, I do NOT have the option of joining the broadcast live using my iphone or my ipad. Outrageously frustrating. Makes the whole dvr feature completely useless. So glad I spent the money on a lifetime pass and bought the tuner. Looking into Jellyfin. You guys suck.
