Apple TV 4K 1. Gen struggled with 4K x265 HDR

Hi all,
I’m having issues with 4K x265 HDR content. It’s the first time in a couple of years that such content is creating trouble on my ATV. The sound goes smoothly but the framerate is ugly. I tried everything with the “old player” etc. But everything won’t work. My setup uses “Direct play” but it seems that something is odd here. The movie has a bandwidth of 40 Mbit/s which is an easy win on Ethernet.

Do you know if the ATV app may receive and update soon?

Please share the actual version. There are two update trains right now: The “stable” release and the “Test Flight.”

Either way, you can find your actual version in Settings -> About.

8.45 is deprecated, no further development

they’ve been working on a new app and your issues will get addressed and/or all new ones introduced once it rolls out

Oh okay. So the only App for Apple TV has been deprecated without releasing an alternative to use?

I do not work for plex

Think of it as a next patch to fix these issues, it just happens to be on an all new codebase
