To be fair, a forum like this is literally for these conversations, ‘stupid’ or otherwise.
While I agree it would be nice to know for sure what is going on (though enough has been hinted at), I am sure Plex has their reasons for keeping certain things under an NDA. I don’t think they are being intentionally obstinate in keeping certain things under wraps.
That’s the issue. No proper communication. Other platforms that do the same thing as yall basically, communicate properly their issues and roadmaps to fix it. Especially ones that take money.
How is almost 4 years of broken basic functionality, with no proper communication as to why, to paying customers okay with plex as a company?
Lol yes it is. It’s completely different. You’re example is adding features, not fixing basic functionality.
They are not remotely the same thing. People on this forums have been dupe by Plex to pay for a Plex pass only to realize they can’t use what they paid for properly because there’s no responsible disclosure or communication from Plex about jarring issues.
I also never said you personally need to tell us. You as a rep for your employer should be able to or someone else at Plex. This is why this is a culture problem at Plex imo. Lack of proper communication and responsible disclosure to a paying community is a huge culture issue.
I also like that you can edit your comments without the forum telling us you did lol.
Woo, sorry it is completely different! This is a fundamental BUG!!! In your product that paying customers have been asking for an update on for over 3 years! If you can’t see that then, well, i guess there really is no hope. Sigh.
They have been changing / fixing the code. It’s never ending.
Where you run into trouble is trying to keep ONE APP
– compatible with ALL the different AppleTV hardware versions
– compatible with ALL the different tvOS versions
– compatible WITH the changing Apple API
What kind of app would it be if it REQUIRED everyone to throw out their old ATV and buy new? Is that fair?
The Apple platform is difficult to work on. I see the code.
I’ve been writing code for many years and the Apple way of doing things has always been “Apple unique”.
As a user (Chuck hat on)
I gave up on Apple but not because of Plex.
The remotes are extremely difficult to use if you have any physical impairment (I’m disabled)
I changed to Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and have never been happier.
Combative? What do you expect paying customers to say? None of this is aimed at the Plex staff who post here. We know your hands are tied. It is aimed at your management or their management - wherever the buck stop. It is aimed at those who are not authorising the fixing of the issue and the issuing of any formal communication on it. It is sheer frustration!
You know you can turn off the “touch” functionality on the remote right? (On the newer ones) making it similar, but way nicer than the Shield Remote. I came from a Shield because the remote and UI are inferior (amongst) other things.
I think the general polish that people experience and appreciate within the Apple ecosystem is due to said ‘uniqueness’, especially in how app development is corralled.
Hopefully any (if any) anti-Apple bias at Plex hasn’t been too much of a factor in why this issue has persisted.
