Others have mentioned this, is it a recognised bug? Don’t remember experiencing this with my older ATV4.
Audio just slightly out of sync but still quite noticeable.
Amazon, Netflix on the Apple TV don’t seem to have the audio sync problems so feel it’s specific to Plex. When you change Apple audio to stereo from 5.1, sync problem improves. No issue with Plex on other clients like the LG Plex app, Kodi, Roku etc.
Hi I am also having the sync issue. Its t=starts out fine but the further the movie the worst it gets. I have a roku, samsung smart tv, firetv, and they all work fine. It only happens with apple tv. I haven’t found anywhere a solution to this issue. And its not only me. My friend has an apple tv 4k and is also having the same issue.
I have a 4th generation Apple TV (not 4K version though) and also find regularly that there are audio sync issues. The audio is delayed by a fraction of a second on some content, not all.
Plex server is version 1.14.1.5488 running on Ubuntu 18.10. Apple TV app is 1.38 (11485)
I had a look at the encoding of content that plays fine, audio in sync:
Media
Video Resolution 1080p

And comparing this with a file that has sync issues:
Media

Clear differences are the number of audio channels (2 vs 6), the video profile (main vs high), frame rate (PAL vs 24)
I started having the same issue when I ran the “wireless audio sync” on the Apple TV settings. This fixed a sync issue I had with my HomePod, but screwed up Plex. If I reset “Wireless audio sync” Plex is fixed, but my speakers get unsynched. Really annoying.
Is there a fix other than completely disabling the enhanced player? There was a post about the issue back in January where the plex team acknowledged the issue, but it doesn’t seem to have been fixed.
