They would have to care first before they could be embarrassed
Yep.
Meanwhile another iOS TestFlight just hit, so I assume tvOS will follow. But yet again zero release notes. They canât even be bothered to do that.
Itâs really not difficult. If there are no user facing changes then they should just f**king say so, instead of keeping us guessing.
To addâŠrelease notes are now present for the last two TestFlights, so thatâs a positive. Less so the fact that those release notes are identical.
Yep sidebar issues are possibly now fixed.
Yay! It should make navigating those files that will inevitably either stutter, have lip sync issues, or go audio free after a few minutes if using HomePods, much easier.
If any of you use a Mac Mini as a server (or any modern Mac), consider using it as a client with Plex HTPC. I switched to using my M2 Mac Mini as a client with the Plex HTPC app and couldnât be happier.
I use the ATV4K remote to control Plex HTPC with an app called âRemote Buddy 2â and it works identical to how it does on Apple TV 4K for the most part.
Absolutely zero playback issues, audio sync or codec issues since going back to this setup. The improved PQ is also a plus over the ATV 4K.
I convinced myself that the HTPC setup wasnât worth it, BOY WAS I WRONG ![]()
Only thing with that is you wonât get great Dolby Vision support, or HD audio passthrough from a Mac
As opposed to what? The fake Dolby vision support, out of sync audio and broken audio in the Apple TV app?
True but it does passthrough dts and Dolby ac3 5.1, just not the HD codecs yet (which is a MacOS software limitation rather than a hardware one).
If the tonemapping wasnât great the lack of any dolby vision support would be concerning, but all the dolby vision and 4K uhd movies Iâve played look vibrant and amazing with no loss in detail or color.
Interesting video here about dolby Atmos https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx4vve3UGUg&pp=ygUYZG9sYnkgYXRtb3Mgbm90IHdvcnRoIGl0
Makes me start to wonder if HDR, dolby vision/Atmos is really more of a marketing strategy vs what directors intended for the movie experience to be (but thatâs a whole different topic).
sooo banned lol
Not even close.
Nah, Dave does not work anymore for Plex, he canât ban people anymore for being âToo combativeâ when they are just expressing their frustration in a polite way.
Something to try for people out there.
I have my Apple TV set to 4K SDR @50hz (in Aus - if your in US I would set to 60hz)
Then set Content Matching
Dynamic range - ON
Refresh rate - OFF
Plex settings
Old player - OFF
Old audio - OFF
with these settings my audio sync is spot on now.
If I turn of the dynamic range I need to set the audio sync all of the place for different codecs etc.
Worth a try for anyone ![]()

Thatâs fine for TV shows from your own country but for movies ughâŠ
Am I just getting lucky with 24 being close enough to half of 50 when I watch movies?
I thought Apple TV/the plex app still adjusted the frame rate even without that option on - I could be wrong tho!
If you switch it off then you are playing everything at a fixed frame rate.
does anyone at plex still care to give any updates or we are going to have incidents where staff like @ChuckPa dox users and derail conversations for the foreseable future while banning users who call out his false equivalencies?
They acknowledged the issue in the fireside chat thread, but said itâs not currently being worked on.

hahahahahh what a â â â â â â â joke, they should be pulling the app from the app store. they are literally selling a broken service to apple users.
Well, they got away with it for 4 years. Whatâs another year or three between friends?
Oh, wowâŠ
I bought a Nvidia Shield recently and have been using that. But the Shield and Plex app (UI) is buggy. It requires like a reboot every handful of days.
Oof⊠well hereâs to my 3rd annual Infuse subscription.
