Apple TV App - Adding my server to top level

My FreeNAS server has been down and I just got it going again. I haven’t used Apple TV to access PLEX in a long time.

I am not happy with the new app. There are all kinds of new features which are cool and all, but the most important thing to me is my movie server in my own house. I put all the kids movies there so they would stop destroying and losing DVDS.

It is painfully not obvious where the movie server is from the main screen. You have to go clear to the bottom to other and then pick the server from that list. Then pick a library, etc…

The old app put you right into the server view and you could pick playlist or which library you wanted right there. The app on my Vizio TV is much easier for the kids to use to find their movies than Apple TV is.

Is there a way to get the Apple TV PLEX app to open straight away to my server by default?

Is there a way to at least add my server as a default selection on the front page instead of burying it under other?

Thanks,
Kirk

Yes, you can customize the sidebar and home screen.

See these two support articles:

Also, for this:

I believe there should have been a startup bit where it asks what you want your primary server to be. If you missed that bit you can reset from scratch by:

Navigating to Home in the side bar, then to the three vertical dots, click on that and select Restore Defaults; this should let you pick your “primary” / default server again.

Thanks, I will give that a try.

I ended up rebuilding my FreeNAS from a boot drive failure and have the newest version of both FreeNAS and PLEX with a new name for my server. When opened PLEX in Apple TV the old server was still listed, but it is no more.

Hopefully, I’ll get it all straightened out eventually.

Thanks
