We need back the ability to change the speakers during content playback, just as we could with the old version of the player.

Somebody else made the same observation. I’m able to use the Apple TV remote to do this - hold the MENU button (top right) until the Apple UI for this slides in.
Maybe that will help you. The other person said that they were using a different remote and it didn’t work for them.
