I made a collection of NFC cards for my kids so they can play movies through Plex without having to operate the TV remote.
It uses Home Assistant to detect which tag is scanned and then plays the correct movie by sending a deep link to my Apple TV:
plex://play/?metadataKey=UNIQUE_MEDIA_ID&server=SERVER_ID
To make this a seamless experience, automatic login is enabled.
This works most of the times, but occasionally, the Plex app will freeze on the splash screen, while the movie starts playing in the background. So we can hear the sound of the movie, the image is stuck on the Plex logo.
Force quitting the application and scanning the tag again solves the issue.
This hasn’t always been an issue, but I can’t pinpoint a precise moment in time when this issue started.
I already tried re-installing the Plex app, but that doesn’t help.
Any ideas about what could be the problem? Or pointers on how I can help find the root cause of this bug?
