Apple TV getting (slightly) better, but issues remain

Just updated to the latest Preview version for Apple TV, and things are looking a bit better. Biggest change I noticed so far is you can now bring up the menu bar on the bottom while playing a video, and press the back key and it immediately dismisses the menu - that’s a welcome change.

Probably one of the biggest navigation issues I still see is that when you start scrolling down in a list of movies in a library and want to switch to another library, it’s way more difficult. Pressing the back key highlights the Libraries option on the top, but you can’t get back to your list of favorited libraries without scrolling back to the top list of movies.

What should happen is when you hit the back button, it takes you to the top of the movie listing, and shows your list of favorite libraries immediately.

Also some DOVI content is falling back to HDR10 (public app plays the same DOVI movie fine).

Lastly, the DOVI filter still isn’t working - it doesn’t seem to do anything at the moment.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is DOV?

Dolby Vision

Do you know if it’s profile 7 DV that falls back to HDR10? The old app would force fake dolby vision on profile 7 files instead of falling back to HDR10 (ATV doesn’t support profile 7 DV) so hopefully they implemented this correctly now.

DV profile 5 and 8 should be the only files that trigger DV if they have it fixed now.

Looks like profile 8

Also tested with a profile 5 video and same issue - drops down to HDR instead of DOVI

Ah ok gotcha. Was hoping dolby vision compatibility would be better. Hopefully they get it sorted before replacing the old app in the ATV store.

Can also confirm this - hope it’s fixed soon.

DoVi Profile 8 also falling back to HDR10 here.
