Apple TV not updating, timing out connecting to Mac mini M4 Plex server

I regularly have problems with my Apple TV 4K (latest model) not refreshing the library information. It doesn’t show newly recorded shows or update episode counts. Sometimes it tells me that the library isn’t there or that live TV channels are not there. It also hangs up trying to load a show.

However, if I remote connect to the server on my iPad, it immediately fixes itself. Is something sleeping on my server that is preventing the player from updating? Or, is there something in the very dated (Dec 2024) Apple TV app that’s not connecting to the server correctly?

Firstly look at your System Energy settings to be like below.

I have reviewed those settings in the past looking for possible problems. Everything matches what you show except for “Put hard disks to sleep when possible”.

I turned that off because I thought maybe there was some lag in spinning up the external drive my libraries are on.
