iOS Device and Apple TV, Server is Currently Unavailable

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
AppleTV Player Version#: 8.45
Apple iPhone Player Version#: 2025.15.0 (1053) OR 18.4.1? Not sure what the difference is

When I went to sleep last night, I turned on a show on my Plex Server using the Apple TV. When I went to use the TV this afternoon, no media is loading on the AppleTV client. Server is Currently Unavailable message.

I logged out of the client, logged back in, and still the same issue. I also checked on my iPhone, and I am unable to connect to the server that way either.

I have no idea what log files to look for or share.

Where is your PMS installed? Can you verify that the process is running? On the server you can do //localhost:32400 (or http://127.0.0.1:32400)

Or you can provide logs: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Yes, I am able to access the Plex server directly from the host.

When I change the “Remote Access” setting to Enabled, I am able to access it from the Apple TV client. It only loads in low quality though, which is what indicates to me its the remote connection only.

Okay so your problem is that you can’t make a direct connection. Are you port forwarding or relying on UPnP? If you didn’t set up port forwarding then it’s relying on UPnP which is flaky sometimes.

Check on Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router if the port your plex is using is able to be pinged. Usually it’s port 32400.

Ping whatever that number is that’s closer to the arrow that says “Internet”
