Apple TV + WD My Cloud Home - Currently Unavailable

Apple TV OS - tvOS 15.0
Plex version 7.24 (1284)
My Cloud Home - 1.18.6.2350-143d2e66b

Out of the blue, Plex on the Apple TV can’t connect to My Cloud Home, says it’s currently unavailable. I’m able to connect to the server through the website on Windows and my iPhone and iPad just not the Apple TVs. I’ve disconnected, signed out, unplugged, and plugged it back in and the issue persists. Since I’m able to see the server on my other devices, I’m assuming the issue is with the Apple TVs. The server is there, is just not reachable. I don’t know if I have to update the server since WD usually takes care of that with its software. Any insight will be helpful!

I have restarted, rebooted, deleted plex and reinstalled plex. All of my platforms recognize Wd My Cloud Home except Apple TV 4K 2nd generation. I’m having the same problem.

Also experiencing this problem. WD support aren’t very helpful and are sending me to general troubleshooting advice.

What I’ve come down to!! I have to Screen Mirroring plex from my iPad to watch it on the Apple TV  :sob: :joy:

Having the same problem, only started yesterday. Library works fine through infuse app on ATV though.

Thanks for the tip. Infuse actually looks like a far tidier app than Plex on Apple TV so I’ll give that a shot.

I have the same problem as well, started about week ago. Done everything suggested, nothing seems to work. Server available via iPad, iPhone, MacBook, just not Apple TV all of a sudden.

If they can’t fix this I may as well cancel my Plex subs, waste of money now

I am having this same issue but I am using a Synology NAS with Sandisk drives if I remember correctly. Just randomly last week or the week before it just stopped recognizing on my ATV after working fine for years.

But my content seems to work fine in my other rooms using Roku or the built in player or my computer. just not on ATV which is the main unit I use

my current Plex version is 7.24 running TVOS 15 (hmm could that be what broke it, going from OS14 to OS15?)

Got the same issue – I’ve been using Plex for quite a while now but only switched to a WD My Cloud Home today. I was able to set it up and it works perfectly fine on my MacBook – but on my Apple TV it only outputs currently unavailable, and on my iPhone it states “offline”; using the latest plex app on both devices.

Also, I’ve downloaded infuse on both devices, logged in using my plex account and it works right from the start which is quite confusing. But I guess it must be a plex-app problem then.

Went back to infuse for the time being as well, hopefully they fix it soon or might have to stick with infuse but I didn’t really want another subscription

My other workaround… put the files on a USB and plug it on the back of the TV. I know, this is so archaic!! Plex needs to fix this ASAP!

So I guess it’s fixed now. The Plex Apple App got updated with Plex Version 7.25(1615) and tvOS 15.1.1 and now I can see the server and the files again.

For this to not happen again, I stopped the automatic app updates on the Apple TV, hopefully, this will prevent this issue to happen again.
