So I was on vacation for a couple weeks and when I got back I was able to update PLEX as well as my Apple TV (4th gen) I’m now running:
tvOS 12.4 (16M568)
PLEX version 1.16.4.1469
UPDATE: now running PLEX version 1.16.5.1488
(With no changes positive, or negative)
When I open Plex on my AppleTV all my movies and TV shows pop right up. When I click on a movie all the reviews, actors, etc load right up. But when I hit play, the wheel comes up for a sec, then the screen goes dark & the wheel comes back up… and it stays, like, forever. The movie just never comes on.
So there’s the problem.
The only other additional info I can think to offer is, I’m using WiFi on my MacBook Pro(server) as well as the AppleTV. My movies & shows are stored on a 4TB HDD (with a few hundred GB of free space still) hooked up via USB. No NAS involved here. When the movie is “attempting” to play & I go to activity monitor on my Computer it shows nothing… Additionally, if I play a movie on my phone or the Comp itself everything plays just fine AND shows up in activity monitor just as it should (direct play etc)
I was able to get all my TV episodes to play just fine for some reason… and the movie Avatar. No idea why but only that movie, lol.
