Apple TV3 new install

Hello

first off i am sorry if i am posting the question that was asked million times before, i couldnt find a post related to it in my limited search so i am posting the question.

so i bought apple tv3 yesterday and i am trying to install plex server on my computer so i can run plex on my atv. i read a lot of fourms and few youtube videos on how to install plex. i sucessfully installed plex media server on my computer (192.168.0.199), downloaded and installed new plex connect master > aug 27. also i installed the new certificate on my atv but i cannot get plex to work. whenever i go on trailers, it thinks for a while and ask me to try again later. MyPlex is mapped and connected properly (thats what i think) i made some adjustment with my setting file

[PlexConnect]
port_pms = 3256
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8
ip_webserver = 192.168.0.199
loglevel = Normal
enable_dnsserver = True
ip_pms = 192.168.0.199
port_webserver = 3256
enable_webserver_ssl = True
logpath = .
prevent_atv_update = True
port_dnsserver = 3256
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem
port_ssl = 3256

it runs what seems to be okay,

i dont know what i am doing wrong, firewall is off, when i go to 192.168.0.199:32400 it gives me plex page xml

but its not working with atv.... i am lost and any help would be appriciated please

thank you in advance

...get your settings restored.

aTV will access port 53 (DNS), 80 (http), 443 (https). You only want to change those in settings.cfg if you do the port forwarding somehwere else.

this maybe a stupid question but how do i do that? if you are referring to restore original stock file it doent work at all. but i will make changes with ports as you mentioned above and let you know. thank you kindly i really appriciate it.

What does not work?

If the stock settings don't work (eg. as you have a DNSServer/WebServer running, use Internet sharing, whatever...), you really need to do A LOT on your side, outside of PlexConnect.

Download a new clean PlexConnect and start again without configuring any changes to PlexConnect.

If you then still get an issue post the info, it will be much easier to help you.

thank you guys!! i will try both suggestions and keep you posted, you guys are awesome!!! :D

i tried changing the ports as suggested to

[PlexConnect]
port_pms = 3256
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8

ip_webserver = 192.168.0.199

loglevel = Normal

port_webserver = 80
enable_webserver_ssl = True

prevent_atv_update = True

port_dnsserver = 53
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem

port_ssl = 443

...get your settings restored.

aTV will access port 53 (DNS), 80 (http), 443 (https). You only want to change those in settings.cfg if you do the port forwarding somehwere else.

and i am getting this error

Have you got something else on the machine that is using port 80? A Webserver product maybe?

Have you got something else on the machine that is using port 80? A Webserver product maybe?

no sir i just checked and its not being used

You definitely have something using port 80.
Reboot your machine, if that doesn’t work then look at the troubleshooting section on the wiki to help find out what is using the port.
It may be something like Skype (you can disable it from using port 80).

>>oh and also i read in one of the other topics to try "\" and "/" in cert path, i tried them both

No need. Python is fine with "/" even on Windows.

You created the "cert", didn't you? Best thing... let the settings as shipped and just add the files into the PlexConnect/assets/certificates folder.
