Still seeing this on client 8.12, though it seems less often then it used to be for me…
I just switched back to the new player and after 3 tv shows, playing continuously , I lost sound. I’m Plex 8.13.1 (4401) player.
I also just noticed, that when the show plays, the volume is lower. If I pause it quickly and press play again, the volume gets louder. Weird.
As with 99% of Plex problems I’ve ever had across different devices, the solution was to enable the old video player in settings.
Replacing Apple’s built-in video player with Plex’s custom one was meant to enable new features but it has never stopped being buggy or introducing functional regressions which still persist years on.

yeah but for me the old player won’t play the newest 4k HDR content well. This bites, can Plex devs simply roll us back to a client version before this bug was introduced? Devs, please system restore us to 3-4 months ago.
+1 for victims on this bug, and it doesn’t take hours on my Apple TV 4K. Slightly random, but 1 in about 3 autoplays starts the video with no sound at all, and I need to exit the video and manually launch it to get the sound back.
I just did this and now my 4K remuxes play smoothly and without that weird jitter also. Thanks.
But I think it sacrifices the HDR since it looks a little worse.
Has anyone tried Jellyfin as a 1:1 replacement for plex? I’ve been using Plex since beta and it seems they’ve been focusing on things that I don’t care about (their free content) and have abandoned the efficiency/stability/video quality I’ve been using/paying them for.
Looking for something open source and don’t mind one time setup pains. Looks like jellyfish might be the solution? Just curious on what else is out there. PM me if you think it will derail this bug that still hasn’t been fixed….

I can’t get 5 mins into a 4k HDR remux movie using PLEX without my audio cutting completely out. Happens on all my ATVs with different movies. The video is direct streaming and the audio transcoding from TrueHD. We have had to use PLEX connected to Infuse to which works 100%. Why isn’t this longstanding issue being resolved?
Yes, this is a deeply frustrating bug, and really takes the shine off of Plex on the Apple TV. Adding my voice to the apparently silenced chorus.

For me it was fixed in the last weeks, but today, after an automatic (plex app) update over night, the bug happen again.

Well, it seemed to have improved a little, it’s silent on the fourth item autoplayed, not the second or third. Are the goalposts being moved???
