AppleTV-Client "stupid"? :-/

Hello, I switched from nVidia Shield TV to the latest Apple TV 4K some month ago but the Plex experience on ATV is disappointing :frowning:

Background: I use a Mac mini M1 as Plex Server with a 5Bay-RAID-DAS as file drive for my movies and I also have an old SSD on it as “cache drive” where I save new vids on before I store them to the DAS or where I copy complete series seasons on which I want to watch next. That’s why I need to start the DAS only every 1-2 weeks for a file sync and save a lot of energy and noise this way

On the ShieldTV the Plex app was “smart” enough to load the correct (available) version of a movie if I wanted to start a movie which was stored on the DAS and the “cache drive” too. No need to choose the “correct version”.

But on the ATV-Plex-App this doesn’t work this way! This app always tries to load the unavailable version so I have too choose the available version per try&error via the “Version Menü” (where’s not to see which version is available).

If I stop the movie and go back to the movie screen (fe to watch an actor or any data I can’t see in the GUI, see next) and choose “Resume” the Plex App does not resume the available movie, it tries to resume the UNavailable movie :-/

And that sucks :frowning:

Can you fix this please and give the ATV-Plex-App a little bit intelligence???

THANKS!

And another sad thing: the “Player-GUI” on ATV sucks too! :frowning:

Because there is no GUI, there is only a progress bar with the running time and (until ca. 90% of the movie) the remaining time (this time disappeares after ca. 90% of the movie).

On the shield there was a full GUI with Movie Title, season/episode of TV show, a clock and some more Infos I miss on the ATV :frowning:
