Arcade Save State issue - not working since last server update

Since the most recent server update plex arcade works as promised other than not saving game progression on any platform.

I have plex arcade running on an intel nuc and it runs perfectly:
NES
SNES
Gameboy Advanced
N64
Sega, et al
Arcade (Mame, Neo Geo)

Since the latest server update save states stopped working on all platforms.

When exiting a game a folder is created per the game in the /plex arcade/game saves but the games do not save progression.

When you go to “resume” it starts all games on every platform from the beginning.

Please have a look into this.

This is on iOS and tvOS.

we’ll look into this!

can you do me a favor, and after game state fails to load, can you use diagnostics to zip up log-files so we can have a peek? that way we can see the log for the save as well as the load.

Ran several games from each platform (more or less) and only 2 would resume play from where I left off (Arcade/Mame - Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Ace Driver). N64, NES, SNES, Sega 32x would not work. Oddly earlier today nothing would resume play. 1944: Loop Master for example (Mame core) will not resume from where I left off.

Keep me posted if you could as to a fix for this. I suspect it will come from you folks with a server update.

Thanks for jumping on this. So close to being perfect, having save states will make this complete. All I’ll be waiting on after this is additional core support (PSX, PPSSPP, Sega Saturn, etc).

thanks for the logs, we will investigate and make sure it’s fixed for the next release.

@R_RFLIX ~ actually not able to reproduce an issue. mind PM-ing me your email and we’ll get you into slack for more real-time interaction?

Any update on this? I am having the same issue on iOS. I am able to run SNES games successfully on iOS, but the “Resume”(save state) functionality does not work at all, the game restarts from the beginning each time. Not only that but even in-game saves aren’t retained the next time the game is launched.

are you running on Windows? thanks to @R_RFLIX we were able to track down a fix which will be in the next release.

if you’re only having issues with a single platform, then more likely tied to a specific core.

Yes I am running on Windows 10. The issue exists when playing Atari 2600 games as well, so I don’t think it’s platform specific.

OK, then you’re probably running into the issue fixed in the next release, which is good

When is the next release planned to drop with this fix?

Unrelated, but I would seriously consider extending the trial period to more than 30 days, this is basically paying a premium to alpha test this feature. I love the idea of having my ROMs on my Plex server and would gladly pay for an arcade lifetime subscription(if one were to exist) but it’s barely usable currently.

Agreed! I appreciate the free trial, but I am unable to play N64 games due to Z-button not working (Numbus+ controller, AppleTV 4k & iPhone XS Max), which is the main reason I signed up in the first place.

In the next server release cycle, which should hit beta over the next 1-2 weeks IIRC.

I totally understand there have been serious bugs, which is a reason why we extended the trial period. We’re making good progress getting reported issues fixed, so you can either continue to buy us a latte :coffee: /month and experience the improvements as they come, or you could cancel and come back once we’ve fixed the issue which are showstoppers for you. Totally understand either way, and sorry things weren’t in better shape when we launched.

Again, totally agreed that some scenarios (in your case, specific platform + specific controller) aren’t there yet. We’ve discussed this one specifically.

I have a nimbus and a 8bitdo which work great. Most racing games are good to go as is. Some games you have to change controller settings from in the game /start/options/controllers for games like Golden Eye or Perfect Dark.

Also, which core are you using? I have found parallel_n64_liberto.dll is best.

I would agree.

@elan Any updates on the N64 Z-button issue?
