Pierre, I thank you a lot for the plugin, installed it today and it seems to work fine. Great job!
There seems to be another step (after you select the desired language, you get another list with just the video, so you have to click play once more) but it doesn’t bother me too much.
Would it be possible to load the descriptions for the videos in german? Could I “flip this switch” myself (without any programming skills)?

This step is there in case there are multiple videos or resolutions. I don’t like it eiter. Ill work on it

Here is an updated version :
This has got support for selecting the language en, fr or de in a Preferences menu. ( a plugin restart is needed for it to take effect)
The navigation removes the extra level of menu for the videos but since now there aren’t multiple languages per videos there is still on extra menu level !! but it shows the details of the video, with a text description in the preferred language, let me know I can also rework that.

Resolved, you mentioned it above, but anyway:
Plex is only working with adobe flash 10.0.*, I had a 10.1 version.

Thank you Pierre! Great work. The menu works great, both languages and qualities.
But whenever I choose a video, i can only hear the sound, the image looks like a black screen with some grey lines.
Do you have any idea?
Any other videos (e.g. TED) work great.

P.S. Before seeing, that you have already developed a much more sophisticated plugin, I started one on my own, resulting in the same problems. I deleted other plugins, right now there is only your arte plugin.

Works great. One thing I noticed:
Programmes - Arte Journal.
There is an Arte Journal emission on the homepage, but when choosing the category it in your plugin, nothing happens.
(An this category is super important to not have to watch the news of autrian tv!

Hey Pierre, those new versions are good news. 
So far I had no success watching any video. Selected german as the default language setting, restartet the Plex software and now when I click on some videos nothing happens (I only see the plex background, for others I see “Mit Server verbinden” which means “Connecting to server” and a spinning circle, but that process seems to be stuck.Ok, after playing around a bit more, now some videos were also loaded fine. Hmm, not sure about this. Will test some more.
Maybe I was too impatient, because now the language setting seems to have taken effect and all the video-titles also appear in my selected language and since that point everything seems to play fine.

I tried the last version your posted 2 days ago, choose my prefered language to fr and restart plex (media server + client)
When I try to play the last “Tracks” episode I can see the same has syncopation the loading and nothing appends: http://cl.ly/1S3i0s273u200t1x3E3K
When I try with that Documentary “Haro sur l Euro” I can ear the soundtrack of the video in background but I only see the loading menu like that : http://cl.ly/2H1z0A0C0c1Y331M130K
I tried with few other and I still have this 2 cases… I run Plex last official version 0.9.1.9, Flash play 10.0.
I will follow this thread closely because it’s one of my favorite channel in Europe

Thanks for your message. I have noticed that some videos have some issues or expire but aren’t pulled out of the list. Could you verify that you can indeed play these particular files through a browser ?

let’s see, if we can figure out what’s causing what.
As a nice example I choose “Protest against Berlusconi” (always worth supporting). The movie can be found on the arte website right here:

That is, of course, the german version of the video. It is in the category (if you go to Theme filter) All Videos > Europe
Plays fine in the browser. With Plex I only see the following:
The audio starts playing, but the screen stays like it is in the screenshot.
On Plex for iPhone I also gave it a try and received an error message after about 30 seconds popping up saying (not sure of the wording) Error opening video: Plex couldn’t play the video", then I click ok and the app crashes.

Hi,
tested it a bit and most videos seem to load fine.
on a few occasions only the sound plays, but if i stop the stream and load it again it usually works.
arte journal is also not working for me.
(possibly not directly related to the plugin: I can’t seem to make the “info list” view of the mediastream skin stick, it always reverts back to the “list” view when I close and open the plugin, it works for another plugin (orf-tvthek))
I’m running plex 9.1.9, osx 10.6.4 (flash 10.0).
I’ll keep you posted on other observatons.

Thank you both for your help. I suspect these videos are exceptions in the sense that they have slightly different dimensions or aspect ratio and that causes the player to puke. (I currently use one default set of assumed dimensions)
I will debug these an report back. If you do find other problematic videos, please report them here so that I can test against them.
New version: This one should work with all the videos, Please test it and let me know …

Cool! This version should be very close to the final one. Note that even though English is available as a language, Arte does not actually have any content in English so all the menus will return an error message. simply select either French or German in the Preferences to have access to the videos. I might fix that before final release

I was away the last couple of days. So I totally missed your new version. When I check Plex Online>History I can see an update for Arte+7 (v 106.1290). It was installed today, since I wasn’t using Plex for the last days. Is this the version you posted on 15th of dec? Or even the final you were posting about today?
Would be good to know, so I can be sure I have the correct release installed. Will do some testing soon. And as always: thanks for keeping this plug-in alive. I love it so much, since I love arte content
One suggestion / enhancement request: wouldn’t it be great to see the latest additions to the arte+7 section on their honmepage? I would find it nice, to have a cateory like “Recently added” - not sure though is that is possible or how hard that is to implement.
@syncopation: the version Pierre posted here (15 December) is identical to the one that’s been pushed to the store yesterday.
