When I add new music to my collection, I like to give it the tag ‘New’.
I saw that the artist metadata also gets the tag ‘new’. Is there a way to avoid this.
What is the best way to edit your metadata, adding the tags in plex, or editing metadata outside plex.

You might have a better time using smart playlists to expose new music. They are quite useful.
I know about this, I’m using smart playlists / collections for many situations.
The thing is, I never like the genres given to an album when I buy / download them.
It is far from complete in my opinion. I like to give multiple genres, and influences, after I listened several times.
That’s why I give it ‘new’, I know with this I still have to tag it.
But I didn’t get an answer on my questions yet.
Can we avoid that the tag ‘genre’ is automatically given to Artist genre.
If the answer is no, I don’t see the point of having artist genre, album genre and track genre.
As soon as you refresh metadata, it reads again the tag ‘genre’ from the file and places it in the 3 again.
What is the best way to edit your metadata, adding the tags in plex, or editing metadata outside plex. The problem I see here, if you edit inside plex, and you need to refresh metadata, It reads all data again from the file.
