Artwork Not showing - Plexconnect ATV3

I use the Plexconnect_daemon.bash file in the Plexconnect folder. I manually enter it through the terminal after I restart. The benefits are that you can close the terminal window. My computer runs 24/7 so doing this is not too arduous. See the daemon thread near the beginning to see the instructions for running the daemon in terminal. It’s something like

cd “path to bash file folder”

sudo “path to bash file” start

You can replace start with stop or status

The problem has returned, I was using iflix to converting files to m4v on the fly it does it pretty quickly but now plex doesn’t show artwork again

Do you see it In other Plex clients?
Have you tried rebooting the ATV?

I know for sure it is something to do with iflix but I do not know what exactly it did to screw it up... so what happens is when I open media manager on my mac I see none of the artwork.. only for movies, tv shows nothing. I see the name etc but everything else is greyed out. I fixed it by manually going to each show and choosing the artwork.. so its not like it is not available.. once I choose it shows.. but I have no idea why it stopped doing it automatically.... can the names of the shows have spaces or does it have to be a . period inbetween words? because for now other than changing it to mv4 that is the only diff I see. nothing to do with atv i dont think coz last time i see it on the mac media manager but doesnt show on the atv now it is both.

Try doing a deep scan in PMS - should sort it out automatically for you

Right ok how do I do that exactly? Thanks

Explore the PMS web interface. It has options for analyzing and deep scanning libraries.

Ok will do thanks !!

I switched to Ethernet shared connection and the problem is back and I can’t seem to correct the problem again sigh

Please provide the IP’s of all devices, it may be a different issue.

The mac is 192.168.1.222, the display tb Ethernet which I am connecting to the Apple TV is 192.168.1.223, the atv is set automatically but dns is pointed at my mac

What exactly do you mean by Ethernet shared connection?

Ethernet cable goes to the back of my tb display

I had a similar issue with pms I solved it myself. Read my post on the link it should be close to the last one, grey/black meta data=rebuild library’s content I think in pms, if that doesn’t do it redo pms all together, maybe it will work for you as well:

Good luck

I will read that in a bit but I think for me it’s an ip related issue it ONLY happens when I connect my atv via Ethernet cable, so hear me out see if u can help:

So my dns on my atv needs to be pointed to my mac right because of plex and what not and in my plex on my mac in settings.cfg I set the dns there to my dns hiding service - am I missing something here?

So I use a Thunderbolt Display which has a Ethernet port at the back, I can connect my atv to it, in that manner I can share the wifi connection of my mac via the tb displays’s Ethernet port, no whenever I do this it works but then the problems with artwork happens. I assume I am doing something wrong… Either with the way I set the static ip or the dns,

So for example the tb display ether is it’s own connection in network connections, how do I set a DNs for that do I point it to my dns hiding service or to my mac ip, since my pms is on there and that’s pointing to the dns hiding service…

It does look to be network related, especially with those symptoms.

It sounds like NAT versus bridged mode but I am not sure as I do not now how Thunderbolt displays share an IP address.

This is why I asked you about IP addresses for which I only got a partial answer. please provide the following (redone in case the IP addresses have changed):

  • The IP of your router
  • the IP of your display
  • the IP of your PlexConnect device
  • the full network details (IP, gateway and DNS server) of you ATV for both configs (shared and using eg wireless)

Would a wired/wifi router with dhcp enabled fix this issue, I personally would have the router do all the ip address assignment. Trying to run this thru your mac then having your mac giving it a ip then pointing back at your pms on your mac doesnt seem to be the best solution to create a network for the atv to work properly. I would goto the store and pick up a cheap router, or if you have a router and no way to run the ethernet get a home plug adapter that runs your ethernet over your power lines from room to room, or get a wireless gaming adapter if you have a wifi router to begin with. All cheap fixes, or continue to attempt to diagnose for days, just my two cents hope this helps
