Everything works, except video playback

Hello,

i have the following problem:

I am using a ATV3 with 5.2.1, and running the plexconnect client on Windows 7 (also tried on Windows Server 2012, same issue).

I can navigate through the menus, with thumbnails and so on.

But when i want to play a video, there always comes a error message (for me it is in german, i try to translate):

"While loading these contents a error happened. Try again later"

In my cmd-window there is following displayed, as soon as i press play:

ATVLogger : Player state: Loading at this time: 0

ATVLogger : Player state: Stopped at this time: 0

Please see attachment for more logs.

Stuck here as well…

I am having the same issue. And also worth to mentioned, is that none of the artwork is being loaded :(

I am having the same issue as well, "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later."

I am using a Windows 7 PC, local IP address 192.168.1.2, same as the ATV DNS, on an ATV3 firmware 5.2.1.

I wonder if the issue is that my media i stored on an external hard drive. I would love to be able to stream directly from the ATV and not have to use the iPad as an intermediate step. Thanks for the help!

Sorry, forget to mention, the pastebin link to the XML info for my media file is: http://pastebin.com/veG6UMhz

The "log file" error info is identical to what b1ggi posted above.

Same issue here… After trying to Force transcoding i got only sound, but no picture. Content to be Player are my .ts Movies, stored on the latest PMS Running OSX 10.8.2. ATV 3 with 5.2.1.

I can confirm that I also store my content on my external drive. Will try to move it to my internal HDD and see what happens.

I have content on an external hard drive and am able to play it no problem. Now, all of my content is ATV/iTunes native formats so that may have something to do with it.

Try this:

Apparently it does affect all firmwares, a fix is being worked on but it requires architectural changes.

Rubi what is the address of your PMS?

This does not work. But maybe the next fix solves this Problem. It is still not clear why wome people have the same problem like me, and the most not. Maybe the PMS itself?

Attempted to try the "press play instead of select" trick to play movie before the pre-play screen, but get the same error. I'm trying to stream .mp4 and .mkv files, FYI.

Did try to just to hit the play button, but it did not work either… I have setup my atv with the same ip as my pms client (192.168.1.10). It runs on a Win7 with latest pms and atv firmware

Am I the only one by the way where the artwork is not loading either? All the artwork is just blank…

Same here, Rubl.

For the artwork problem i used another version. I think from elan, search in the plexconnect basics topic for a link.

Still no luck getting Plexconnect to work and I have tried the following:

1. Only host movies from the same HDD as my PMS server is installed (Plexconnect runs from same Windows 7 computer)

2. Use Elans version of Plexconnect (still no playback or artwork)

Some bug fixes have just been made, can you try with the new source code please?

Make sure to swap in your old settings.py file

which version? there are so many different versions… plexinc, ibaa or elan?

Plexinc and élan are the same thing/build/person. The latest bug fixes are in the main build, Baa’s.

f00b4r has put it nicely:

The Baa one is the main branch and e.g. had new bug fixes pushed out tonight.

Think of the PlexInc one as a fork that also has some bug fixes and some sweet UI ideas that will be merged back to the main branch (after fixing some bugs found in that). NB also be aware that it is not compatible with some earlier firmwares.
The main branch is the one where the underpinning architectural changes are taking place.

Feel free to play with both though, it will hopefully not be too long before they are merged and you will get all the goodies and bug fixes together.
