.ass subtitle delay on Nvidia Shield

I’ve noticed a 1 frame delay of subtitles on the Shield. The subtitle appears one frame later, which for more intense .ass typesetting for anime is an issue as replacement edits such as clip/iclip or position based edits will not match the video.

The same file had no issue on my AppleTV, so I think it is an Exoplayer issue as mpv on tvOS plays it perfectly fine.

Thanks for reporting, this is indeed down to our implementation on Android, at the moment it’s a bit too slow to keep up. We have plans to improve it, but don’t have a time frame at the moment I’m afraid. But it’s something I definitely want to look at, as for some anime it can be very annoying!
