Dear fellows Plex lovers - I am posting this request for help regarding the automatic detection of music albums. I have copied in my music directory a number of new albums but I cannot display and play them on my library after I use the scan library files function. The function works well with movies but not with music. Can someone please help me on this matter. Thanks a million. Maurizio
First step, make sure your music files are organized and named so Plex can recognize them:
Thanks for the swift reply. I’ve been using plex for about 5 years without major problems. My music files are organized in a directory named music on my NAS (ASUSTOR). I have about 500 albums there that are well recognized. Now I have copied 3 more albums in the same directory and the scan library function does not recognize them and they are not displayed like all my other albums. What do I do wrong? Thanks again for your help
Many thanks I have followed the suggested steps and included subdirectories as suggested. still flex does not pick up the albums and does not show them in the list of available albums as it has been doing for the last couple of years. The movies section works perfectly but the music does not. what do to? thanks fort any additional help you might be able to offer
I’m not familiar with using an NAS, but I believe most of them are linux-based. My only other suggestion is to check the permissions of the new files, using the NAS management tools. Make sure the permissions are the same as the albums that Plex recognizes.
many thanks - tried but id does not seem to work. I keep this forum open in case other users might be able to help me.
