AT & T BGW210-700 Cascaded Router to Allow Remote Access

Will solve double NAT issue
Should be easier than figuring out to port forward with the darn provided gateway

I tried for hours attempting to get my remote access for Plex working through the AT&T provided gateway. Then I tried hooking up a second router since their web management is horrid. Finally figured it out and here’s what to do.
Note: This is to document the process in one spot for reference and future searches

  1. Hook up your personal router to AT&T Gateway, boot up and log in
  2. Make sure you note down the exact MAC address of your router that it IS using
  3. Log into your AT&T Router managment
  4. Go to Firewall -> IP Passthrough
  5. Change the following settings:
    – Allocation Mode to “Passthrough”
    – Passthrough Fixed MAC Address = the exact MAC address you wrote down earlier
o- Please double check the MAC address is current
o- This part is super important
  6. Hit save and reboot
  7. Follow the regular other guides for setting up port forwarding (Will be a bit different for each brand)

Hope this helps someone, stop the pain and document solutions to frustrating problems
